Artist Bio

Maya Louw (she/they) is a passionate artist living in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand. Her passion is storytelling, whether that be through concept design, illustration, or filmmaking. Maya’s strengths lie in concept design and worldbuilding, with a particular interest in character design, but they’re skilled in many areas of art. They have experience working in animation, digital painting, traditional painting and sculpting, and designing logos, posters and book covers.

Maya has just completed a Bachelor of Design degree at Massey University, majoring in Concept Design. Her final project focused on character design for 2D animation, looking at how to increase positive representation in children’s media. Maya now works as a freelance artist and designer.
